Social Democrat Student Movement Gathered at Ankara

Social Demcrat Students Movement members gathered at CHP Youth Headquarters for setting up a new organization schema at universities. By the significance of last “student” protests  whole around the world and country, Social Democratic  students decided to putting a new agenda for being more organized at University Campuses. In this manner, new agenda will be constructed on two main bases. Organisational structure will be based on “civic culture” and being organized at civil society and as an ideological motto “Another world is possible!” will be the main concept of whole entity. As CHP Youth, we welcome “Social Democrat Student Movement” with the words of democratic socialism; “Solidarity,Equality and FREEDOM!”

CHP Youth will support the organisation of the movement at univesities and will work in solidarity with them.

RAISE VOICE AGAINST TAX INCREASE!

CHP Youth Organization – Çankaya District raised voice against to “Additional Tax on use of Electricity and Natural Gas”

Last economic failures around the world affected Turkey, also. AKP government raised taxes on usage of electricity and natural gas. (For Natural Gas prices increased like; %18.7, For Electricity; %9.2) Çankaya District Youth Organization of CHP, protested those rises on prices in front of the Ministry of Energy by making a statement to  the press and sit-down strike  to show how the youth people reacts against to “unfair” acts of government toward society. By this activity, CHP Youth Organization showed its’ determination against to the economic pressures which are created among the society.

CHP Youth Organization Protested “Prescription” for Sivas Massacre

Sivas Massacre is a well-known civil case which has been dropped by the The Ankara 11th High Criminal Court. As an injurious event of whole society, decision of the court could not been tolerance by progressive people of Turkey. As the Youth Section of CHP, we organized several protest meetings whole around the country to get the attention of public for saying that “statue of limitation can not be applied if there is a crime against humanity.”

TURKEY SEEKING PEACE, YOUTH MAKING PEACE

7 Apil 2012, Istanbul

As a well-known dramatic topic of Turkey, Kurdish Minority issue has been discussed at the youth summit “Turkey Seeking Peace, Youth Making Peace“, with the initiation of CHP Youth on 7Th April of 2012 at İstanbul.  Some of important figures (e.g. Kemal Burkay) of Kurdish issue were on the stage for making an effort to find a way about finding peace around whole Anatolia again, as it was happened before for long years. In this manner, CHP Youth Organization has shown its’ sincereness about bridging the gap for peace by taking this kind of a step. After this events, with the help of attendants, CHP Youth Organization will continue to carry the responsibility of establishing peace in the country.

13th CHP YOUTH CONGRESS

CHP Youth President Barbaros Dincer, took the decision of gathering general assembly and going to the 13th National CHP Youth Congress on June 17th, 2012.

CHP Youth Organisation, being fully aware of the historical responsibility to destroy increasing government fascism in Turkey, decided to go to Congress to elect the future leaders of CHP.  We invite our comrades to join our cause for our common dream of a new Turkey. As the first youth movement and the defenders of democracy, we believe this Congress will bring a dyamism to our campaign.

As the CHP Youth Presidency, we have planned the timetable of the Congress and shared the planning on the CHP Provincial Branch Presidents’ meeting in Istanbul. President Barbaros Dincer made a presentation on the guideline of the Congress and the renewed regulations to follow in each Branch elections before the national Congress.

Comrades from ECOSY and IUSY will be invited to join our feast of democracy. With the support of CHP President Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, we hope to pass on the understanding of democracy for generations to come.

CHP YOUTH RESIST AGAINST EDUCATION LAW

CHP Youth, together with KESK (Confederation of Trade Unions of Public Employees) resisted to demand the withdrawal of the so-called 4+4+4 Education Draft Law on Public Servants’ Trade Unions.

At around midday, the confederation members insisted on getting through to the protest march and the police intervened against them with tear gas and water cannons. Main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) deputies Orhan Düzgün, Mehmet Şeker,Mevlüt Dudu and Selahattin Karaahmetoğlu came to the scene and talked to both the police and the protestors.

85 KESK members were taken into custory and many groups were prevented from entering the capital city, Ankara, to suppor the protest. The police intervened by tear gas. CHP Youth, continued their protests till morning with the Union Confederation. CHP Secretary General Bihlun Tamaylıgil, CHP Chairman Gürsel  Tekin and Sezgin Tanrıkulu supported the protests through the night.

CHP Youth Ankara Branch posted “Free education is a right.” on the protest site.

SI Special Committee meeting, Istanbul

CHP will host  the Socialist International Special Committee on Arab World.
The SI Special Committee on the Arab World will convene for the second time on 23-24 March in Istanbul, hosted by the Republican People’s Party (CHP). This meeting will bring together leaders and representatives of SI member parties and members of democratic and progressive movements from the region.
Building on the discussions at the first gathering and at Council, Presidium and other committee meetings of the International, the main theme of the discussions will be “At a turning point in the
region: Empowering the progressive actors to secure the success of the transitions
”, with an agenda comprising four main items: 1) Answering to the humanitarian and political crises in Syria: bringing an end to the violence and securing a democratic course; 2) Maintaining the momentum for change: ensuring the growth of healthy, effective new democracies; 3) Defining the social democratic blueprint to ensure the success of the transitions in the Arab world in their various stages; and 4) Enhancing cooperation between social democratic forces in the region – working together to advance our common aims.
CHP Youth President Barbaros Dinçer and Vice President Gökçe Pişkin will be attending the conference on behalf of the Youth Organisation.
